Welcome

I have decided to do some blogging so you guys could see what we are up to 2000 miles away. This will be a mishmash of our crazy life on the west coast.

To update you on current events: Kendall and I just moved in to a trendy new overpriced loft with concrete floors being an added bonus (dog accidents clean up very nicely). I will post some pics when we’re finished with the arranging.

We still live with our two babies, Gurdy and Junior (below). Gurdy is almost saying “I love you” on command. I am very serious about this. It took me about 8 months to teach her. It’s more like, “Arr Ruvv Roo,” but still very close.

On the work front: We got promoted... finally! After putting in two years of 60hr+ work weeks, I received official word of my promotion last week (Manager, Creative Advertising) so I guess we’ll call LA home for at least a few more years. Everyone always asks me what I do at work, so I’ll give you a quick description. My group is responsible for creating all the theatrical art and AV that sells a film to you guys. This includes posters, trailers, TV spots, radio spots, newspaper ads, in-theatre standees, etc. We also plan the photo shoots for the posters.

Kendall has been working on many cancelled shows (Studio 60, Journeyman…). I’ve been praying for a West Wing or Friends to come along and give him many years of union employment, but no such luck yet. He has recently been jumping from pilot to pilot with his art department group. He will be promoted to the Emmy eligible position of Asst Art Director on the next show. Kendall’s department manages the aesthetic look and feel of a show (sets/props/furniture/etc.) working directly with the director and producer. In other words, they select the settings and style to visually tell the story.
